Mandi and Joe's Maternity Pics

Meet Mandi and Joe. They've been on the blog before, but not yet in their own post. Mandi is one of my oldest friends. We've known each other since the fourth grade, and our lives recently have been pretty much mirroring each other. We got engaged, married, and pregnant all within a few months of each other. Now she and her husband Joe live in Dallas and are expecting their first child this summer. Joe is in medical school and has been waking up at 3 every morning to go to the hospital, so I'm sure the last thing he wanted to do was take pictures when he got home, but as you can see, he was a very good sport. Mandi had some great pictures like the one above, but she is very modest, and I figured posting even this one would be pushing the line!
I love taking pictures in general, but I especially love taking pictures of people I know, because when I capture a look or some part of that person's personality that I know to be unique to that person, it's really cool. On the other hand, when I turn the camera on people I know, especially when they're interacting with someone else, sometimes I capture a moment that I didn't expect at all and probably wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for the camera.

St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! When we got married almost three years ago, we received a grill as a wedding gift, but since we have lived in apartments and overseas since then, it has never been opened...until now. We finally broke out the grill this week, so besides it being St. Patrick's Day, breaking in the new grill was a great excuse to have everyone over.....and you know what that means! Yup, tons of pictures of Sienna!!!

We bought these hammocks on our honeymoon in Puerto Rico. They are so comfy and a perfect swing for Sienna...

I think Vic was actually telling me not to take a picture of her here, but I can't help it!! Sorry Vic!

What's St. Patty's without Guinness.....and margaritas? Oh well, at least they're green.

The chef....Sienna and Tino were getting along great at the beginning of the afternoon. He was following her everywhere, helping her pick up golf balls....

....but after a few hours that came to an abrupt halt. Tino was still ready to play though.

She just thought she wanted to go up in the tree.

Big News

That's right, we are going to have a baby! We've been waiting to share the news until I had my first doctor's visit, and I did this past Tues. The pictures below are from my sonogram today. Very exciting!!

Here is a pretty good picture of the baby. It was moving around a lot, waving its arms and legs. I drew on the same picture below identifying body parts in case if you have trouble (like I do) figuring out what is in these pictures.

And our child is a whopping 2.66 cm long!! Huge, I know. I am 9 1/2 weeks along, so round about Oct. 14th, there will be a new Alexander running around!!! Just wanted to share the news!

The Hendersons

I spent Sunday afternoon with the Henderson family. Lynn Henderson is the counselor at Crandall and my boss. Her kids, grandkids, sister-in-law, niece, and youngest daughter's boyfriend were all together yesterday, so she wanted to get some pictures. It was a lot of fun and kind of confusing because two of her kids are named Jonathan and Emily, and Emily's boyfriend and Lynn's husband are both named Jay. It's a good thing my Jonathan didn't come or it would have been really interesting! The forecast called for rain, but all the sky produced were some nice clouds.

Lynn and Jay...

Jay and Emily....

These two kids were awesome. They are Elizabeth's (the oldest) kids Andrew and Matthew. They were super-cute and funny.

Elizabeth...
Jay's sister Suzanne and her daughter Keisha. Keisha had the giggles while we were shooting these pictures.

Jonathan...

My Jonathan met Andrew later that night and said that if you put glasses on him, he could be the kid from Jerry McGuire. What a cutie!

This is their dog Hannah. Hannah did not like my camera. Every time I pointed it at her she would go hide.

Lynn has these amazing blue eyes, and all the kids seemed to have inhereted them. You can see them really well in this picture of Emily.

Of course, we couldn't end the afternoon without someone getting on the trampoline!
