4th of July

OK, this is a little late, but we were in Lubbock for the morning of the 4th this year and were able to make it to the 4th on Broadway Parade - the first time I've been in years. Here are a few shots...

After a long drive home - fireworks in Waxahachie.

Elmus & Elaine (Mom and Dad)

This is my Mom and Dad. They let me talk them into doing a photoshoot with me when they came to visit in Irving before we moved. These are some that have been waiting until I had a computer again, but I finally finished them! Unfortunately, I am having technical difficulties, can only upload the one photo, and am leaving for Oklahoma in about five minutes, so I will have to post the rest when I get back on Thursday.

John David & Karen

I have known John David since the fourth grade, and on July 1st, he got married! Karen was the lucky girl (and beautiful bride.) I hadn't had a chance to meet her before the wedding unfortunately, and I was REALLY looking forward to it. Weddings aren't always the best place to meet the people who are actually getting married, but when I went up and introduced myself, she immediately knew who I was and gave me a big hug. Good job John David!! The wedding took place in Karen's hometown of Nazareth, TX (population somewhere around 350 I think), and it was a good ol' Texas country one. I had more fun than at most of the weddings I've been to. My family - Jonathan, Dad, and MomThis is my best friend from grade school Mandi and her husband Joe. Mandi has known John David even longer than I have. I think she may even have had a little crush on him once upon a time in 3rd grade? How things have changed!! Mandi and Joe with her mom Mimi and stepdad Dick.
OK, this is the beginning of what was by far the craziest thing I have ever seen at a wedding. In Nazareth it is apparently tradition for a new husband to push his new bride up the one hill in the town in a wheelbarrow, so here is everyone on their way to the bottom of the hill....And there you have it....The Grand March, which I had also never done before. I had to set down my camera and join in eventually because I just love to dance!!This guy lost a bet. I have no idea what it was....

Chad & Mary Anne

I met Mary Anne through Collegium Cantorum, the choir I sing with at the University of Dallas. She was working as an RA on the UD Rome campus while Jonathan and I lived there, so when her fiance Chad came to visit in April, I couldn't resist doing some engagement photos in bella Roma.

Annika

OK. This is Annika. I took care of her when we lived in Rome. She is 3 1/2 (not 3), and her parents were on sabbatical from Michigan for 6 months. This was my last day with her and our second-to-last day in Rome. So we bought some gelato and went to the park.....
Annika actually took this self-portrait. An aspiring photographer? That's me in the background making sure she doesn't drop the camera!

JP & Kathleen

JP is my husband's best friend. He got married to Kathleen on June 10th of this year. The photographer hired to shoot their wedding was the same photographer that Jonathan and I had at ours - Kristin Bednarz. Besides being a great photographer, Kristin is a great person and it is easy to tell that she does what she does because she loves it. She knows I'm interested in starting my own business, and she graciously let me run around the church trying my hand at shooting a wedding. I have a long way to go to match her talent, but here are some of the results...
